'A litte to fat'

Okay Okay, I've had a few people tell me to carry on with the blog so here I am again. After forgetting my details then my password and having to do a number of changes to passwords etc, I have finally managed to get back into my blog!

So let me update you on every thing that has happened over the past 12 months!

1) I've been back to the Philippines. I had a wonderful time! I will post a few pictures up soon.

2) I've been sitting in my room for the past couple of months trying to teach myself the techniques of special FX make up, sculpting, prosthetics etc. It's a slow process but I feel I'm starting to get into the swing of things. Again I will post some pictures up of my progress.

3) Well there is no number 3 but I'm sure there will be soon!

I'm going to start with something that has plain out irritated me of recent. I don't usually comment on recent happenings in the media but this caught my eye. Following my post about being proud of our bodies I felt particularly angered by the recent comment Karl Lagerfeld fashion designer and Creative Director of Chanel so harshly made about the Grammy Award winning artist Adele. For those that have not read the news Karl Lagerfeld felt the need to comment on Adele's weight calling her 'A little to fat'. Now don't get me wrong I understand in fashion there is a need to watch ones weight but what is Adele 'a little to fat' for? She is a recording artist and quite frankly a bloody amazing one at that. I find it interesting how Mr Largerfeld found it easy to dish out his opinions about other people's weight when he was once over weight himself. Screams hypocrite to me

                                           Before                               After

Largerfeld has now retracted his comment saying that his statement was taken out of context. I'm not sure what he was trying to say in the first place but as far as I'm concerned he meant exactly what he said!
Adele has since held herself in a way that every woman should be proud of, she has been graceful and not lowered herself to Mr Largerfeld's standards. Now hardcore Adele fans have encouraged others to boycott Chanel. Maybe it's time for Largerfeld to bite his tongue next time he feels the urge to spit his horrendous opinions upon anyone else.

                                                                            Adele

I would really like to know your opinions on this matter. As for me I would just like to say that Adele is a beautiful woman with an incredible talent. She strives for what she believes in and is a fantastic role model for the every day woman. Keep it up Adele!

With all that being said I'm showing my support by dedicating my song of the day to this lovely lady!

So here is one of my favorites, this is Adele 'Someone like you'.

Enjoy!!

HTML Time!

Hello bloggers!

So if you're reading this you'll probably have noticed the new blog layout! Like an idiot I spent most of yesterday trying to come up with something cool, I'm a total HTML virgin and I really don't have a clue what I'm doing! So after countless websites and templates and all this messing around it turned out to be a lot more easier then I thought! I didn't realise that if you click edit on the header of the layout you can just simply upload a picture from your computer to replace the title and discription......DUH!! *MAJOR FACEPALM* I hope you like the new layout, I think it suits me more.

I spent time in superdrug and boots today with a friend walking down the make up section, I could honestly spend hours in that place, testing out the make up and wishing I could have all the money in the world to buy the whole make up counters. It truly does give me pleasure just to draw streaks of lip stick and eye liner across my hands! I'm such a make up addict it's ridiculous! I could spend even more time in the MAC store chatting to the make up artists about shades, colours, matte or shine, I think i'm developing quite an obsession!

I'm in a bit of a Johnny Cash mood today so my 'Song of the Day' is obviously going to be one of his tracks. This video is crazy, this is Johnny Cash performing live at San Quentin prison!

Pink injections

My body is not working today! This morning I had to wake up early to go to the doctors to get injections done for the Philippines, my arm feels like it's been punched by Manny Pacquiao!

Anyway so I've not done much, though I did try to come up with some ideas for a shoot I have on the 21st with the wonderful Twitch Photos, the concept is china dolls, all frills, bonnets, lace and general cuteness. So what colour do you think of when it comes to china dolls? PINK OF COURSE! It took me a little longer then hoped to apply make up on myself due to punched arm but I eventually came up with something.

This isn't the finished product, I still need to play around with it a little, I'm not completely satisfied! But that's a good thing right? I may just have to post up my progress as the week goes a long, I would like to see what you guys think!

The 'Song of the Day' has arrived!!! (applause now)

I'm always singing this bloody song and I need to get it out of my system. If any of you knew me personally or ever came to watch my old band The Texas Chainsaw Orchestra live you will know this song is close to my heart. Many an evening was spent dancing to this track.

So here is The Cherry Poppin' Daddies with ZOOT SUIT RIOT!!

Curves curves curves!!

I had a very interesting conversation with a friend today, is it just me or has there become a certain 'look' that appears on the pages of bizzare magazine, front, latex companies and alternative clothing companies. Pale, skinny, unusual colour hair (mainly red or blue) and a mass of girly tattoos (bows, cupcakes and hello kitty). Long gone are the days when the curves ruled the alt model scene. When plus size didn't exist in this world, size 14 was not a problem and size 8 was left to the pages of vogue and marie claire. Sample sizes are getting smaller and people's perceptions of beauty is no longer the overall package just how good your body looks in a tiny latex bra.

I remember years ago being sent a link to a casting call on model mayhem that made me cheer, it was for alternative fashion week requesting for SIZE 14 MODELS for a latex catwalk, the reasons being that curves would fill the outfits out a lot more. I didn't apply. I was still in my nervous phase, I was 21 pounds heavier then I am today and my whole general body image was at an all time low. I then started to drop some weight only to find that my confidence was being knocked about some more with the new emergence of the scene queens, these girls are rail thin and obviously didn't have much luck with mainstream fashion modelling so took a different route.

When did alternative modelling become as rigid as mainstream fashion modelling? Some clothing companies and photographers are now obsessing about being a certain height! What does this mean for the average alternative girl trying to break into this now elitist industry? Well it just seems it's never going to happen right?! Id like to think I could break through and become one of those girls that could break the mold, but it certainly will be an up hill struggle, even at a size 14 with all my proportions in the right place I still need to slim and tone down to a size 12. I don't just want to do this to prove a point, there is no point to prove I just want to take back what was rightfully ours, a place where girls of a bigger size could feel beautiful and be appreciated.

al·ter·na·tive

adjective

-employing or following nontraditional or unconventional ideas, methods, etc.; existing outside the establishment: an alternative newspaper; alternative lifestyles.

Anyway enough of my ranting, time for the 'Song of the day'. I decided to choose this song because it's just a beautiful song. Simple!

This woman certainly had a colourful lifestyle to say the least and every song she sang was performed with such feeling and emotion it is hard not to fall in love with her voice.

24 days and counting....

Today I am thinking about my holiday to the Philippines, in fact I've thought about it nearly every single day since the weather started to turn nasty! Saying I'm a little bit excited would be a total understatement, I'm totally ready to jet off out of this country tomorrow if I had the chance, but alas I must wait! So it's 24 days to go and I still havn't thought about what I am going to bring, whether I should check at the doctors to see if I need more injections, I've done nothing in preparation towards this holiday apart from talk about what I would like to do when I get there!

I remember the last time we were over there, we stayed on a wonderful little island hotel called Canipa Island, the only thing that was on this tiny island was the hotel with it's little beach houses and restaurant. IT WAS BLISS! Getting to the island we hitched a ride with a couple of people who run a service called Tao Expeditions (http://www.taophilippines.com/), these guys take tourists across palawan, island hopping all the way to El Nido. It was a 3 hour boat journey to our little island but it was worth it enjoying the view and chatting away to new people. Again.....IT WAS BLISS!

Here are some pictures of the boat and our little island houses.

I'm feeling rather tropical and beachy (is that even a word?) so for the 'Song of the day' I've chosen something a little different but it always reminds me of being on that boat this song playing on my ipod, looking over the crystal blue waters and watching the flying fish jumping around.

Rain, rain go away.....

Today I am feeling a little melancholy, I don't know whether it is the grey british winter weather or that my boyfriend has had to work every day this week, resulting in us not spending any proper quality time together, it could be a mix of both but neverless I am in some what of a party pooper mood...

Yesterday evening I had a lot of fun making over Sununu, who was an awesome sport in his dia de los muertos make up, he posed well even in the freezing cold and even left my house with the make up still on! brave guy! but I thought I would add a few pictures, have a ganders and let me know what you think.

Song of day is going to be one that will always lift me out of a bad mood, it's just one of those songs that makes me want to dance around.

Americano - Brian Setzer.

This video was filmed live in japan and the atmosphere is electric! Wish I was down in the crowd dancing around and being generally merry.

check this track out, it's pretty awesome!

Good morning Blogger world!

GOOD MORNING! Today I've got a shoot, another dia de los muertos skull will be coming your way possibly by tomorrow if you're lucky.

Keeping to the subject of halloween/horror etc. last night I ended up down one of my favourite spots, The Gaff on holloway road, if you have never been then you should! For those of a nervous disposition who have a tendency of crossing the other side of the road when someone is wearing black comes remotely near you, then you should avoid this place at all cost because you simply will get thrown out and beaten up! (just joking....or am I?)

So back to what I was saying...THE GAFF! I saw an awesome band there called Zombina and the Skeletones, very psychobilly with a hint of 60's surfadelic all wrapped up in a B movie zombie vibe. I loved every second of it and kind of wished my old band were still playing.

So I'm linking the band's myspace to this blog so you can all check them out, they are really good fun and obviously don't take themselves to seriously which sometimes I think is lacking in the music scene these days!

Now for my 'SONG OF THE DAY', keeping to the pyschobilly vibe (cause I'm just in that kind of mood) I'm choosing a band that I simply adore, their music is up beat, their lyrics are catchy and they have a gorgeous lead singer!

I present to you.....DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN............

THE CREEPSHOW WITH ZOMBIES ATE HER BRAINS! (APPLAUSE NOW)

Burnt Toast and Black Coffee

So I've decided to include a 'song of the day' section in my blog, just because music is such an important part of my life. On that note I've decided to post up one of my favourite songs.

This is Burnt Toast and Black Coffee - Shorty Long version. This in no doubt will always get me bopping around my room and it has been played several times on nights out. I can't really say where my love of rock n roll and rhythm and blues comes from but I have a feeling that most of the songs I post up on here will fall into those categories.

Shorty Long's first release was 'Devil with the blue dress on', many more hits followed most famously 'function at the junction' and 'It's a crying shame'.

Listen to the track and I promise you will be hooked!

New Blog for a not so new year

So this is it, my new blog is up on the internet. I'm not sure if it's such a good idea to allow myself to have one of these, I could get myself into trouble, especially with all the ranting I know I am capable of! But anyway here goes. So my first post will not be so interesting, I am currently sat on my bed listening to the Stray Cats thinking about the fact that the cats need to be medicated for their fleas, I woke up this morning with a several new bites. My mum says it cause my blood is sweet, I think it's just an irritation, in fact it becoming more then just an irritation, I'm starting to get royally pissed off! My legs look like one of my polka dot dresses.

At least I have shoots planned for this month! keep a look out on this blog, I'll be updating it with any new work whether it's modelling or make up it shall all be up here for the whole world to see!

Here is an example of some of my recent work:

My boyfriend was a big sport and let me paint his face even though he doesn't like things near his eyes!

oh and one more thing:

this is pretty bloody awful, I warn you that it may make your eyes and ear bleed!

anyway enough from me for now, I will keep you all updated when I have something interesting to say!
